Teacher's Incompetency

Sometimes I want to curse my teachers a for not sending the letters of recommendation on time and then I think well they might have been busy but why do I have to pay for their lateness? Everything else in my application files are complete and yet only letters of recommendations are missing.. One from this uni... one from that.. It's getting frustrating. My parents went to Pakistan on an emergency visit and sent my transcripts from there to US and the Universities got them within a week and how can My letters of recommendation from one place to another place in the US be missing? It is out of my comprehension. I sincerely hope my letters get to their destined places because all my applying otherwise, will be for naught.

Letters of Recommendations Missing

What I don't get it that my teachers keep telling me they have sent my letters of recommendation for me to the Universities I applied to whom I applied.. THing is they havent reached the Universities they were supposed to reach. and Now I am kinda getting worried and my teachers have all left for summer vacations. :|

Updating

OK so I am back. I was hellishly busy these past weeks. Well lets start with the first order of buisness:

My mom left for Home and now she is safely back home. I was a bit worried about her travelling alone since she can't walk long distances considering the long distances you have to walk at London Heathrow and Chicago O'Hare. But she got home safe and sound partly due to the wheel chair requests I had put in earlier.

I have been mostly busy with finishing my applications to the Universities and now only the Statement of Purpose for a few of them are left. Mostly the day's pass by in that turmoil. I also started learning LISP (An Artitifical Intelligence Computer Language) on my own. I thought sitting home doing nothing in these days would be a sore waste of time and started learning side languages. I am going to also start C# one of these days.

Among other things, I have been reading some good Novels based on the Forgotten Realms Setting for the Dungeouns and Dragon Games. Most of you table top game players might know about it. I read Elminister In Myth Drannor a long time ago and played the Baldur's Gate games so I thought novels set in this setting would be a good read. I started with the Sembia series which is specially designed to introduce people to the Forgotten Realms setting. The first book in the series "Halls of Stormweather" introduces 7 characters and their stories and the latter books pick up each character's story. The first book is really good and I am about a few pages away from finishing it.

On another side note Counterstrike Source's new update is bad. It has started causing problems for many people due to the Anti Cheat stuff it uses. This Anti Cheat code has resulted in jerks and lots of lags during game and I hope Valve wakes up and starts making some corrections and releases a remedy update.

Back and Busy still

Applying to Universities is a hectic job trust me. Ive finally sent my statement of purpose to all the universities and now i'll be heading out today to send them my transcripts and official GRE and TOEFL scores. It doesnt help that the University if Illinois has a 15th July deadline date.

Statement of Purpose

I hate Statements of Purpose. Most of them are quite difficult to write effectively but I am still lugging along trying to get a good one done. From the 8 I have applied to, 5 ask for the Statement of Purpose.

On another note, I like to thanks the friends that come to my blog out of sheer conviction and see it not updated often :P. Thankyou to all of you guys. Esp to Sarah for leaving comments often lately :P.

Mom's leaving soon for home

After about 3 months here with me, my mom is going to be leaving soon on the 25th of June. I will miss her even more this time. After Mc Donald's her food was a blessing and now that she is leaving, I will have to go back to eating junk food and not taking care of myself. Ah well, I hope she gets back fine since she is weak and there will be noone with her. My dad had already left 2 months ago but my mom stayed back.

Gre, Toefl and Universities

Its been a while since i updated this blog and in doing so I might have lost someof my friends who had an interest in this blog :P. But hey I have to take care of this University application process and it takes a lot of my attention and time.

I recently gave the TOEFL because even though I graduated from the U.S, some universities will only accept a genuine TOEFL score. SO i had to give it. Was a breeze. I got a 227-283 range with 283 if I score a top score on my essay and the 227 if I score poor on the essay. The essay is graded by a teacher later while the rest of the test if computer graded. That is why your given a score excluding your Essay score.

I still have three more universities to whom I have to send my application and stuff. Wish me luck. Universities I am applying to:

Been slow

Life's been slow.. its been hectic too.. in a way. Ive been applying to universities and all and its been a busy week. Sorry for not posting much and I am sure people will have stopped coming :P. But that is how life is. Sometimes you just get so mixed in work you forget to update. Anyway hope things go well.

GRE

Ok I finished giving my GRE yesterday and boy was it different. The whole format was a little off compared to what I had studied. I scored 650 on my Quantitative and 530 on my Verbal. Its middle of the field, nothing too spectacular but I guess its still something. Now I am going to apply into some Universities based on that score and see if I get in.

Short Departure

Ok back after 2 days. Sorry for not posting these two days. I was preparing for my GRE and had some other stuff to do. It was real hectic. Now there isn't much to tell. I am giving my GRE soon on Friday. Hope it goes well. I really studied a lot.

Home cooking

I love my mother's cooking. I have tried to like a lot of foods but the way my mother cooks really is tooo damn good heh. I was all full and bloated today with the food she made today and really had a hard time breathing even. Gluttony ah well. It's not good but when you haven't tasted your mum's food for 3 years, its allowed in my view :D. Apart from that nothing much happened today. Same old slow and boring day.

Guildwars coming out on 28th

Ok Guildwars will finally be released on the 28th but players who preorderd it will be able to play it in the Early Access Period on the 27th. Can't wait for it. It is one of the better MMORPGs to come out this year.

Other than that nothing much is happening these days. Trying to finish up on my GRE these days. I have my exam late next month. Hope it goes well. If I get a good score I get into a good university and do my masters otherwise I'll just keep on finding a job :D. Let's pray for the best and hope for the best as well.

I might just try and going to the same University where I did my Bachelors from if I don't get a great score because it is just a formality at the university you do your BSc from. Lets see what happens.

Bloglender

Ok i've had a lot of people asking me how to install that calendar I installed over to my right bar. It is quite easy. It is made by another Blog user and its called Bloglender. You can go here to download it

New Cousin

There was the addition of another little cousin in our family. My uncle from my mother's side and his wife had a new son. Congratulations to them. They still haven't named the little guy. Hopefully soon :D.

Ok I did some modifications to the weblog. I added a calendar made by Ming and Andy which I got from Ming's blog. Great calendar Ming. Adding it was a breeze and if any of you want to know the specific details and have trouble understanding Ming's included Install.txt file, drop me an email.

I also added the word of the day on the left hand side of the weblog. It is a good way to keep your vocabulary sharp and upto the times. It will update with a new word everday straight from dictionary.com. You can add it to your blog as well by going to dictionary.com and getting the code snippet.
